Writer, illustrator & cartoonist

Originally from Vancouver, Jake Tobin Garrett (he/him) is a writer, illustrator and cartoonist based in Toronto.

Working primarily in ink with splashes of colour, he aims to capture a sense of place and whimsy, expressing the familiar in unexpected ways. As a queer artist, Jake is also particularly focused on capturing places that are sites of queer connection and joy.

Since 2015, Jake has drawn hundreds of custom illustrations for people, including childhood homes, family portraits, beloved pets, and more.

He’s also worked with clients such as Chatelaine Magazine, Book City, Environmental Defence, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra on illustration projects and editorial content.

Jake sells prints, stickers, and greeting cards of his work, which you can find in his online shop.

To connect with Jake, you can send him an email at jake@jaketobin.ca or follow him on Instagram and Twitter. He also writes an occasional newsletter, which includes special offers and giveaways and the latest news on art markets, new products, and more.
